Tirana, Albania Mention Albania to most people and they’ll remember that the antagonists in the movie Taken were Albanian, or that they are a major source of drug trafficking in Europe. Putting the gangster image aside, I found Tirana to be charming, the pace of life enjoyable, the people friendly and the girls worth getting to know. I was in Tirana for a few days due to work, but I wished I had more time to spend to crack open its shell and find out what’s inside.
I wasn’t there long enough to be able to provide a comprehensive data sheet, but I will share what information I have as there has been nothing said about Albania yet on this forum. If you’re looking for a cheap place in Europe to go on a flagging mission I would consider Tirana. It’s a city that wants to be European, but is still recovering from it’s communist past and has that developing country rough around the edges feel to it.
Girls are very pretty and open to meeting foreigners. I found the level of English here to be decent amongst younger people. Older Albanians speak Italian so if you speak a little of that language you can communicate. A few words of Albanian go a long way to impressing people here so s tudy some basic words before you come.

You can find this preserved locomotive on Gyumri station.

Highways in Australia In Australia, a highway is a distinct type of road from freeways, expressways, and motorways. The word highway is generally used to mean major roads connecting large cities, towns and different parts of metropolitan areas. Metropolitan highways often have traffic lights at intersections, and rural highways usually have only one lane in each direction. The words freeway, expressway or motorway are generally reserved for the most arterial routes, usually with grade-separated intersections and usually significantly straightened and widened to a minimum of four lanes.
The term motorway is used in some Australian cities to refer to freeways that have been allocated a metropolitan route number. Roads may be part-highway and part-freeway until they are fully upgraded. The Cahill expressway is the only “named” expressway in New South Wales , which opened in , the first in the region.

Also related to this basic root are the Turkish and Greek words for Albanians and the Albanian language. The latter explanation may, however, simply be a folk etymology or constitute the reason why Albanians identify themselves with the eagle. Albanians can be divided into two cultural groups: The geographic border between the two groups, based on dialect, runs roughly along the Shkumbin River, which flows through the central town of Elbasan to the Adriatic Sea.
In contrast to Germany, according to a amendment of the Austrian federal road act, Bundesstraßen is the official term referring only to autobahns (Bundesstraßen A) and limited-access roads (Schnellstraßen, Bundesstraßen S).
Subscribe Whatsapp Reddit Twitter Driving directly from Paris to Berlin would normally take around 10 hours but there are so many fantastic places worth visiting along the way that you can make a great one to two week road trip out of it or even more if you prefer to travel slowly. I took around 15 days for the trip and stopped in seven cities between Paris and Berlin.
The Paris to Berlin road trip looked like this: Roman baths an amphitheatre where gladiator fights took place a Roman bridge dating from the 2nd century a Roman basilica and the beautiful Porta Nigra city gate. Trier is also worth visiting for its festivals like the altstadtfest Old City Festival where you can try local wine and beer while watching live bands play music from around the world.
Bacharach on the Rhine Bacharach is situated in the middle of wine country and is a great place to spend the night on the way to Heidelberg. Where to Eat I had an amazing meal of local cheese, grilled vegetables and wine at Weingut Karl Heidrich wine bar and would definitely recommend it. Heidelberg Heidelberg is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany. Heidelberg is the kind of place where you can wander for hours, exploring little streets and shops or you can go hiking in the nearby hills.
If the weather is nice, head to the riverside park on the northern side of the river near the Theodor Heuss Bridge for a picnic. Schwabisch Hall If you like typically German towns with half timbered houses galore not unlike Bacharach then you might want to stop at Schwabisch Hall. You could overdose a little on this kind of architecture on this road trip but I find it hard to resist.
I can also recommend a visit to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum for the German and other European art and a stop at the Beautiful Fountain, which is beautiful, in the main market square. Nuremberg also has one of the oldest and most famous Christmas markets in the world making December a great time to visit.
Since , Croats have insisted that their tongue now called Croat is distinctive. The spoken language is basically the same, but Serbs use the Cyrillic alphabet and Croats the Roman alphabet. Under the Yugoslav Socialist Republic, churches—Roman Catholic in particular—experienced repression by the state. This moderated in , when an agreement with the Vatican recognized a religious role for the clergy. The Orthodox are primarily Serbs; other minority religions can be found mostly in urban areas.
No formal restrictions are placed on religious groups, and all are free to conduct public services and run social and charitable institutions.
Toponymie.

Can’t Anyone Untie Us It is Time This of course was not everything that Goya put in Los Caprichos but I think that it provides a definite insight into his thinking and state of mind at this point in his life. Senex Magister Goya’s art is remarkable in that his whole style and approach to painting changed in his mature years.
This change coincided with a mystery illness the artist contracted in It took Goya many years to fully return to painting and etching and during the recuperation period, divested of his commissioned workload, he experimented greatly in style. Upon returning to painting and etching at the end of the s, Goya had thrown off the influence of the rococo; his art gained a significantly darker, original tone.
Not only had his style changed but his choice of subject matter too. He became markedly more interested in the grim everyday reality of Spain and the Spanish people. His characters, often twisted, grizzled and contorted depictions of the poor, the ignorant or the insane arguably reflected the mounting social tensions between old, “black” Spain of tradition and superstition and the modernizing influence of an increasingly rationalizing Europe. In he was appointed First Court Painter with a salary of 50, reales and ducats for a coach.
He worked on the cupola of the Hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida; he painted the King and the Queen, royal family pictures, portraits of the Prince of the Peace and many other nobles.
